COUNCILMEMBERS CELEBRATE BIKE-TO-WORK DAY Councilmembers Sally J. Clark and Tom Rasmussen ride and rally to City Hall event
Seattle — Councilmembers Sally J. Clark and Tom Rasmussen will celebrate Bike-to-Work day by cycling to City Hall and speaking to a rally of bicyclists. (Clark’s sprint from Columbia City is around 13 miles roundtrip, Rasmussen’s dash from West Seattle is around 17.) Last year, the Cascade Bicycle Club reports that 10,000 cyclists participated in Bike-to-Work day around the Puget Sound region. Councilmembers Clark and Rasmussen are each captains of competing teams of Legislative Department employees who are participating in Group Health’s Commuter Challenge, one of the biggest bike commuting events on the west coast, during the month of May. Both Councilmembers Clark and Rasmussen are working personally and politically to encourage transportation alternatives and complete streets that support cyclists.
