JEAN GODDEN ON CITY LIGHT BOND RATING
Bond Rating Upgraded by Standard and Poor
SEATTLE – Councilmember Jean Godden, Chair of the Energy and Technology Committee, responded to yesterday’s upgrading of Seattle City Light’s bond rating by Standard & Poor to A+, stable outlook.
“This is good news. City Light has clearly returned to a solid financial footing following the 2001 electric rate crisis. This new rating is a direct result of strong financial policies put in place by the Council in 2005. This new bond rating is a sign of Wall Street confidence and something the Council needs to look at closely as we review new proposed electric rates for City Light,” says Councilmember Godden.
