JEAN GODDEN ON CITY LIGHT BOND RATING
Bond Rating Upgraded by Standard and Poor

SEATTLE Councilmember Jean Godden, Chair of the Energy and Technology Committee, responded to yesterdays upgrading of Seattle City Lights bond rating by Standard & Poor to A+, stable outlook.

This is good news. City Light has clearly returned to a solid financial footing following the 2001 electric rate crisis. This new rating is a direct result of strong financial policies put in place by the Council in 2005. This new bond rating is a sign of Wall Street confidence and something the Council needs to look at closely as we review new proposed electric rates for City Light, says Councilmember Godden.
