Mount Baker Community Discussion with the City

Last week, I met with neighbors in Mount Baker who were looking for the City to address several issues in their neighborhood. One of the requests that came from that meeting was for my office to convene an interdepartmental meeting, so folks can speak directly to City department staff and make direct requests for help on issues that these departments can address.

Following our meeting last week, I have connected with 8 departments under the Executive branch at the City of Seattle and have asked them to participate in a community discussion with neighbors living near the Mount Baker Light Rail Station. Those departments are:

  • Office of Housing
  • Department of Neighborhoods
  • Department of Transportation
  • Seattle Public Utilities
  • Office of Planning & Community Development
  • Seattle Parks Department
  • Seattle Police Department
  • Human Services Department

This meeting, for folks who live and work in Mount Baker, will take place on Thursday, March 11th at 5:30pm.

As a member of the Legislative branch in our City government, this is one of the powers afforded to my office - to convene meetings between constituents and City departments. This is in addition to our power to legislate, pass a budget, and advocate on behalf of constituents to City departments. It is something that I am happy to organize with any neighborhoods that want to have a more open discussion with the City.

Warmly,
Councilmember Tammy J. Morales
