A Message from Kshama on Rent Control

Seattle is in the throes of a stunning and unprecedented affordable housing and homelessness crisis. Skyrocketing rents are driving working class households, communities of color, seniors, and students out of Seattle.

The for-profit market, dominated by real estate speculators, has utterly failed us. And Seattle’s political establishment has proven itself completely unwilling to fight for the bold solutions we need: citywide rent control free of corporate loopholes, and a massive expansion of social housing - publicly-owned affordable housing.
