Vernal II, spring equinox by Salem
In the end there is no end, but to begin again
Ananas comosus
Out from the sleeve of dawn day dew
out from the black majik of winter's dearth dirt
we see the world renewed
no small trick
and in you, of summer solstice conceived
and vernal equinox born
i have blissed on the tale
of daffodil and pomegranates: quarry
the sweetening of life
the candy of the land
of spring, dawn and morn
call it floral shock or sweet brown chocolate
call it wonkavision or Edenic Ananas comosus
call it mad medicine mood spring or mudslide
no daffodil need decide just how to heliotrope
all time known the ropes, dig
dig the turning tides
dig the wealth of earth
on this year's first morn
