The Ocean and the Sky's Reunion by Rajnii Eddins
Close your eyes and imagine you are sky and clouds passing
And I am the ocean, the rivers, the seas
everlastingly patient
Waiting for the day that we would meet
and greet each other with a silent complete
emotion of devotion
The ocean and the sky's reunion will be soon (I thought)
Then, I began to make my journey upward
Gathering and extending myself
while you distantly commenced to aid my rising
with the lowering of your clouds
and the dispersing of your rains in various areas
And I, continuously, immersing all obstacles
maintained my ascension
submerging sands of the beaches, to the far reaches
of the roads in the cities
Fluidly, fluently crooning your name
in a chorus
I shrouded forest after forest
miles above the shores that were once my boundaries
We crested fountains
surpasses mountains
til I delivered my praise
in swirling sprays
a phrase was emitted out of my restless waters
A soft gurgling (We are together) was heard
Then we embraced
caressed, cooed, confessed
that we were blessed with our presence
for only a short time
You see, soon I would be receding
So, confident in the belief that this was not our last meeting
I succumbed to the ebbing of my flow
and allowed the winds to blow you slowly upward
Cuz I knew
we would meet again
