Southwest Sector
Fauntleroy Way SW / SW Alaska St, map

Respondent #24, 2/26/09
I'd like to nominate the following intersection for a Critical Crossings designation and installation of a red light camera: Fauntleroy Way SW & SW Alaska St.
A major problem occurs during evening rush hour when cars are traveling outbound (from downtown) on Fauntleroy Way SW, and presumably racing to catch the Fauntleroy ferry. They invariably run the light on Fauntleroy, crossing Alaska St., heading South. I was nearly hit crossing Fauntleroy several times. When oncoming cars were forced to stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk, we were bombarded with yells and swears! Several years ago I notified SDOT of this dangerous intersection, but nothing has been done.
Seattle Department of Transportation (SDoT) Response
You indicated a need for increased traffic enforcement and a request for a red-light camera at this location. SDoT is forwarding these concerns to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).
