Joe brings to the Review Board considerable experience as a law enforcement officer, manager and executive at the local, state and federal levels. His public service includes time as the Chief of Police in Sequim, the Sheriff of Clallam County, a United States Marshall and most recently the executive director of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, the agency responsible for training all general law enforcement officers in the state of Washington except State Troopers. He has taught criminal justice courses as an adjunct professor for 25 years and currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses at Seattle University. Through his research he is very familiar with national trends and best practices in law enforcement.
Elizabeth is an intellectual property attorney and a volunteer on the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct Advisory Council, where she has coordinated programming to connect area residents and businesses with local police officers. As a graduate of Seattle's Community Police Academy, she has a strong working knowledge of the practices and functions of the police department. She also provides volunteer services for the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center.
