Project General Scope
The Windermere CSO Reduction project calls for construction of an underground storage tank to temporarily hold approximately 2.1 million gallons of combined sewer overflow (CSO) during major rain events. This tank will limit overflows into Lake Washington. The tank will typically be emptied within 24 hours and its contents gradually transferred to the County’s system, so as not to overwhelm the treatment plant. The project also includes construction of a 30-inch gravity line to convey CSO flows to the tank and a 12-inch force main for pumping CSO out of the tank. Both conveyance lines will be in a shared trench.
