Street Enforcement There is a full time taxicab inspector that performs street enforcement during work hours. There is half time taxicab inspector that performs street enforcement on week nights and weekends. Street enforcement ensures compliance of vehicle operating standards and driver operating standards. Drivers are also required to comply with passenger relations and conduct standards. Monetary penalties are incorporated into the program to obtain code compliance. Throughout the entire "Taxicab and For-Hire Vehicle Code" law violations are referred to by Class. Below are how the violations of the code are classified.
All fines are payable within 30 days of the issue date. Failure to pay monetary penalties result in the revocation of the for-hire license. Appeal Information All fines of violations issued by a taxicab inspector are appealable within 10 Days of the violation issue date. To appeal a taxicab violation, the appeallant must submit in person, an appeal to the Director at the Consumer Affairs Unit. The office is located at 805 S Dearborn St. Seattle, WA 98134. The Consumer Affairs Unit office is open from Monday - Friday. The office hours are from 8:00am to 11:30 am. Then the office reopens again at 1:00pm to 4:30pm. Failure to appear to a scheduled taxicab hearing will result in the violations that were issued, being upheld.
