2013 Focus Group Reports
Translated Key Findings and Recommendations
Nine focus groups were conducted with traditionally under-represented communities throughout Seattle. Partnering with community organizations, we conducted two African American and two Hispanic/Latino sessions, and one session each with the Chinese, Ethiopian, Somali and Vietnamese community in their native languages, and a group representing the disabled community. There were a total of 182 participants, 43 facilitators, note-takers and interpreters.
Focus group sessions included a combination of surveying, mutual interviewing and group discussion in their native languages. These sessions provided us with valuable data about community assets, opportunities and challenges they face in fully using technology. See focus group questions in Additional Materials section.
The selected groups represented communities that have shown to be technologically underserved in the past and were organized in collaboration with organizations connect with these communities.
