Welcome to the City Light Advisory Committee Web site Established under the terms of City Ordinance 122197, the six member Seattle City Light Advisory Committee provides electric utility industry expertise to the Mayor, City Council and City Light Superintendent. Three members (Tim Hogan, Don Wise and Robin Calhoun) are appointed by Mayor Greg Nickels and three (Bill Alves, Carol Arnold and Ron Ernst) by the Seattle City Council. The Committee members represent a broad range of experience and expertise in the electric utility industry and regional and national energy issues (member bios). The Committee works on projects contained in a work plan developed collaboratively with the Mayor, Council and City Light Superintendent and is required to produce a written report, including recommendations and summarizing activities of the previous year, no later than January 31. The 2007 work plan focused on five broad issues: financial policy; reliability; resource acquisition; risk management and human resources. After further investigation of these issues the Committee has issued its January 2008 annual report in which it concludes that, "City Light is moving in the right direction but as recommendations will show, further significant work needs to be done".
