A City at Work: Images from the Seattle Municipal Archives Photograph Collection Seattle's municipal government provides an extensive array of services that citizens sometimes take for granted. These range from inexpensive electricity to magnificent parks, from social services to public safety, from clean water to cultural resources; and much more. The following pages visually document the City of Seattle's legacy of public work and public service. The Seattle Municipal Archives Photograph Collection contains over 1 million images documenting Seattle City Government over the past hundred years, including more than 135,000 photos that can be searched and viewed online. This exhibit features 750 images from the Photograph Collection that highlight the work and accomplishments of Seattle city government over much of its history.
