Broadband and Telecommunications Task Force Work Plan (Subject to Change)
The Task Force held twelve meetings, twice a month from 7:30 AM until 9 AM. See schedule and agendas page for specific dates.
The plan for the twelve meetings is to schedule the following topics:
- Introduction, discussion of objectives, work plan and speakers.
- Background on broadband technologies
- The future of broadband
- Inventory assets the city possesses (fiber, poles, etc.), levers it can use (regulation, incentives, etc.), and relationship with other governmental entities.
- Discussion of public benefits and examples of what other cities and governments are doing in broadband, and an analysis of potential broadband applications within Seattle city government.
- Industry perspectives -- goals, plans, and relationship to the city of broadband providers and services.

- Establish the options for broadband development and implementation. Each distinct option combines a specific technology with a development strategy for the city.
- Continue to discuss and narrow options.

- Which options best achieve our objectives

- Present draft report on objectives and city options; discuss findings and recommendations
