Black History Month is celebrated in February to acknowledge life struggles and accomplishments of African American people. Our goal is to enlighten and empower others through knowledge and understanding. It is an opportunity to reach others and establish relationships with other cultures. We invite our fellow City employees and the public to attend and participate.
The 2006 Black History Celebration provides a variety of events reflecting African American history and culture. Our 2006 theme is "America Without Walls: Exposing Racism in Light of Social Justice".
We hope our Celebration will entertain and inform you. The Black History Month Committee is a collaboration of City of Seattle employees dedicated to providing a meaningful and enjoyable celebration for the entire community. To learn more about our committee's work, click here.
