Black History Month is celebrated in February to acknowledge life struggles and accomplishments of African American people. Our goal is to enlighten and empower others through knowledge and understanding. It is an opportunity to reach others and establish relationships with other cultures. We invite our fellow City employees and the public to attend and participate. Upcoming Event... On February 26, 2009, The Evergreen and Southeast Chapters of Blacks In Government will host the 2nd annual community forum in celebration of Black History Month. This year's theme is "Change has come to America; Now What?" The distinguished panel includes members from Blacks In Governments, local city and county government, and civic and community entrepreneurial leaders. Please see the accompanying flyers for additional information. We hope that you will come out and support BIG in this event, and freely share the information among your family, friends, colleagues and social networks. Last year's forum was overwhelmingly well received. This year we plan to televise the event and anticipate over 100 attendees. A light dinner and refreshments will be served.
