Ken Kelly is known for his stylized patterns of non-objective paintings. These simple, enlarged patterns, either geometric or Rorschach-like in design, edge toward symbolic expression. Kelly says he prefers to limit his vocabulary to essential forms that originate in the underlying geometric structures of nature. The artist's creation of pattern is a universally human expression. Here his symmetry contrasts with disorder, delicacy with toughness.
