William Ivey, the foremost Abstract Expressionist in the Northwest, devoted himself to painting and to developing a personal and unique manner of expression that appears non-representational, but is derived from observation of nature. Ivey's paintings are mostly about the process of discovery while painting them and his paint application and swaths of color continue to convey emotion in his own strikingly individual style of abstract expressionism.
