Art Partners Program
The city of Seattle's Art Partners program commissioned an additional interior artwork by Vivian Linder. The program provided an emerging artist from the library's local community the opportunity to work with an established artist, like Marita Dingus, to create a permanent public artwork. Linder's artwork features a series of three earth-toned relief panels that depict the artist's interpretation of a pre-Columbian figure in the central panel. The figure is flanked in both the left and right reliefs by Linder's adaptation of figures that appear in West African art. These cultural translations evoke the rich heritage of the library's surrounding neighborhood.
