Seattle artist Marita Dingus mounted four large mixed-media figures on door slats, recycled from the gymnasium of the original center, along the east wall of the center's lobby. Dingus painted the large faces of the Bottle Cap Children, and the bodies were constructed by Rainier Community Center youths with a patchwork of recycled fabric and bottle caps.
The artist states: "This piece was made with the children at the Rainier Community Center. They glued the fabric and bottle caps, and the artist made the chicken wire forms and drew the faces. They represent four children, four ethnic groups."
