Made from a combination of painted plywood, aluminum juice can lids and plastic coated cables, Fish Children, by artist Marita Dingus, is a fanciful work comprising two oversized fish forms which adorn the walls of the center. Integrated into the heads of the fish are images of children's faces, a stylistic device derived from Native American art which traditionally incorporated human figures into animal forms. Children also played an important role in the production of the work, assisting the artist in stringing together the juice can lids which makeup the scales of the fish.
