Marita Dingus created two 10-foot-high thrones which inhabit the interior hallway and highlight the diversity of the neighborhood which surrounds the community center. Seated upon these thrones, visitors appear to be perched at the feet of a pair of larger-than-life standing deities from the mythology of Nigeria. One is the female river goddess, Oshun, and the other is the male thunder god, Shango. Each is ornamented with clothing and jewelry made of painted juice can lids, wood blocks and metal objects found by the children of the community.
