Jim Bender in concert with Marvin Oliver created an untitled totem pole based on the designs of the Haida. The totem pole depicts not a prescribed legend, but rather symbolic figures that recognize qualities of the nearby Pike Place Market as well as the surrounding city. These include Raven holding a Salish woman's spinning whorl, Human holding a potlatch copper of prosperity, Little Human the messenger, Killer Whale or Blackfish, Little Raven and Bear holding a hawk.
