In 2006 Joe became a professional artist and has since studied the Coast Salish form line art, the style of art of the people of Puget Sound. He has participated in indigenous artist gatherings in Hawaii and New Zealand. Joe works with a variety of materials including; wood, wool, glass, printmaking, and also makes and paints drums. He will use this residency to focus on making and designing drums and yellow cedar paddles. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College.
