Cat Isolation Area

Sometimes, due to the stress and close proximity, cats can get colds or flu. In the unfortunate event a cat does get sick, the cat is transferred to our Isolation Room to recuperate. Once the cat is feeling better, he or she can go back to the adoption room. The Nine Lives volunteer team helps to care for the cats in isolation and often provide vet transportation.

Often when a cat gets sick, the Foster Cat team will find a volunteer’s home where the cat can rest up until they are well. There can be up to 300 cats in foster care at any time, many ready for adoption.

Once a cat is healthy and ready for adoption from their foster home, he or she is posted on the Petfinder.com website. We also have off-site adoption events in neighborhoods around the city every month or two. This is a great way to see many foster cats at one time, all of them healthy and socialized in a volunteer’s home.
