Pearl Street Drainage Improvement

PearlStreet

This project will reduce sewer backups and flooding in west Beacon Hill.

What & Why

Several properties in the Pearl Street area of West Beacon Hill have experienced recent sewer backups and flooding, a critical public health and safety issue. Maple Elementary has also experienced flooding during storm events. We will work toward a solution to reduce sewer backups and flooding.

What’s happening now?

We will engage with diverse audiences to provide relevant and meaningful community involvement opportunities throughout the project. During the options analysis phase of the project, we will:

  • Explain the scope of the problem
  • Assess viable solutions
  • Help the community to understand what infrastructure additions would be needed for us to address the problem

We will engage the public in a variety of ways during the early project planning phase, including a community survey (sent in October 2013), door-to-door outreach, community gatherings, informational materials, and other activities we identify from community input.

Stay tuned for updates to this web page as we know more about the scope of the issue and are ready to begin identifying potential solutions.

Project goals and benefits

This project will protect public health and safety by preventing future storm-related sewer backups into residences, businesses, and schools.
