Pearl Street Drainage Improvement

PearlStreet

The City will make drainage improvements in west Beacon Hill.

What & Why

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is in the design development phase of a sewer and drainage system improvement project in Beacon Hill near Corson Avenue S. and S. Pearl Street. SPU is working with the community to reduce sewer backups and flooding during storm events, which is a critical public health and safety issue.

SPU met with members of the community during the options analysis phase of the Pearl Street Drainage Improvement project to:

  • Explain the scope of the problem
  • Assess viable solutions to the problem
  • Gather community input to include in the project design

What’s happening now?

The Pearl Street Drainage Improvement project is currently in design, which is anticipated to go through 2019.

Throughout design, SPU will continue to work with the community to both share information and collect input on the project plan.
