ONE LESS TRUCK

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) was commissioned by the Seattle City Council to explore whether savings and efficiencies can be made by changing how often garbage is collected. SPU believes that if every-other-week garbage collection were implemented citywide, it would:

  • Reduce neighborhood traffic, noise and pollution.
  • Save $6.4 million a year through operational efficiencies.
  • Reduce waste going to the landfill.

DRAINAGE SYSTEM PROJECTS

These sewer and drainage improvements will protect public health and safety by preventing sewer backups into people’s homes and businesses, as well as preventing street flooding. They will also help to protect our natural waterways from polluted stormwater runoff.
