This winter break, the whole family is invited to a free, fun-filled day at the Cedar River Watershed Education Center. Dissect a barn owl pellet and discover what was for lunch. Make a pinecone bird feeder and participate in other wildlife arts and crafts. Activities will be both inside and out. Bring a lunch and stay for the day.

Take a morning stroll from the Cedar River Watershed Education Center along Rattlesnake Lake with a Naturalist to discover rocks, birds, plants and things. Paced for short legs and shorter attention spans, this program will explore shapes, colors, and textures found in nature. Up to two children may be registered per adult.

This moderately strenuous hike will explore the glacial ice, meltwater floods, and an ancient volcano that shaped one of the most spectacular vistas of the Cedar River Watershed. Round-trip is 4 miles. Elevation gain of 1,200 feet.

Hike begins at the trailhead and ends at Rattlesnake Ledge.
No pets please.

Come for a walk with amateur mycologist Lee Whitford as we explore the fascinating world of fungi. See a variety of mushrooms while learning about mushroom habitats, characteristics, and their role in the forest. Up to two children may be registered per adult.
