Changes to South Lake Union On-Street Parking Have Begun!

Pay Station Installation

Update August 10, 2007

Careful management of South Lake Union's on-street parking spaces ensures available parking for employees, customers and residents and helps:

  • implement the City's vision to make the neighborhood an accessible place to live, shop, and work
  • provide a flexible parking response to dynamic and significant development changes
  • encourage future transit, walking and biking investments and supports the InMotion program to help neighborhoods travel smarter

SDOT is installing parking pay stations and a new residential parking zone (RPZ) to replace the existing free, largely unrestricted parking. There are two types of paid parking: short-term for up to 2 hours, and longer-term for up to 10 hours. Along RPZ-signed streets, residents with valid permits will not have to pay for parking.

This South Lake Union Parking Guide provides information on the new system. The parking changes complement Mayor Greg Nickels' South Lake Union Action Agenda to build a great neighborhood accessible to all.

Please send any comments or questions about parking in South Lake Union to Margo Polley at SDOT at margo.polley@seattle.gov or 206-684-8329.
