An overview of the Neighborhood Street Fund program

The Neighborhood Street Fund Program pays for neighborhood transportation projects which are identified and prioritized by the community itself.  The funds for this program come from the Bridging the Gap (BTG) transportation levy passed by voters in November 2006 which expires in 2015.  The levy has $4.5 million in funds to cover planning, design and construction of a third (and final) round of projects.

Projects were considered if they are large, but not too large ($100,000 - $750,000), related to transportation, entirely on existing public right-of-way and have the support of their local neighborhood District Council.  (Maps of Seattle’s neighborhood districts may be found at: www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/districts/.)

Of the 152 projects proposed in 2007, 17 were funded and built.  Of the 37 projects that were considered in 2010, 9 were built by the end of 2012 and 2 more will be built by the end of 2013.  Click here for more details about these funded projects.

In this third of three funding rounds from the BTG levy, the deadline for submitting applications to the Neighborhood Street Fund was 12/17/12 and each of the 13 District Councils selected 3 projects from their district by 1/31/13. The preliminary analysis of the selected projects has been completed and may be downloaded by Neighborhood District (above).
