Major Bridge Painting Completed
Minor Touch Up Work Remains

The painting contractor has finished major work on the Jose Rizal Bridge. Some touch up painting work is all that remains, and will take place over the next two weeks. Temporary day-time lane closures may be necessary, for short periods of time, on S Dearborn Street in order for the contractor to complete touch up work on the bridge section overhead. One lane will remain open in each direction during this work, if this happens.

Pedestrian access to the sidewalk along the north side of S Dearborn Street will be maintained, as it has been for past project work.

The painting contractor may also perform minor touch up work on the west and east sides of the Bridge on 12 th Avenue S. Pedestrians will still be able to use the sidewalks on both sides of the street.

Normal work hours for this project are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The project work is weather dependant.

Overall, the project will help preserve the steel parts of the Jose Rizal Bridge. The entire project, which began in August 2007 and is now substantially complete, included pressure washing, removing rust and damaged paint, and repainting all the structural steel below the bridge and at street level.
