The Seattle Police Department
and Climate Action Now

Seattle Climate Action NowSeattle is taking action to prevent one of the biggest threats to the future of our city and the planet - global warming. Through Seattle Climate Action Now, we are committed to leading by example and helping everyone in the city take steps today to reduce climate-changing pollution in their homes, at work and on the road. Get involved in Seattle Climate Action Now by visiting www.seattleCAN.org.

In pursuit of sustainability, the Seattle Police Department is embracing new technology, building standards and waste reduction to ensure that the men and women in blue are also responsibly "green" stewards of the environment.

SMART GROWTH

Energy Efficient Buildings

The Seattle Police Headquarters proudly meets the silver rating of the LEED Green Building Rating System. The Southwest Precinct that opened in 2003 and the Seattle Police Support Facility also meets the gold and silver rating of LEED standards.

CONSERVATION

Paper Reduction

As one of the City Departments to use high volumes of paper due to required public documentations and record keeping, the Seattle Police Department has initiated efforts to produce electronic reports and distribute online when possible as requested by the general public and its employees, saving a significant amount of paper usage.
