How to Apply
The Seattle Police Department is actively recruiting highly motivated, positive, people-oriented candidates for our state-of-the-art 9-1-1 call center (the busiest call center in the state). Salary and Benefits

Job Training and Work Environment
The Seattle Police 9-1-1 Call Center handles all emergency calls for the city of Seattle and is the busiest emergency call center in the state. Located in downtown Seattle, the call center provides 24/7 coverage to the city, and dispatchers work five different shifts.

The Seattle Police Department offers 9-1-1 dispatchers the most comprehensive training in the state.  Upon successful completion on an extensive and intensive training program, employees who are hired as a Dispatcher I may compete for promotional opportunities to Police Communications Dispatcher II, Dispatcher III and then to Chief Dispatcher!

The Department appreciates the importance of our 9-1-1 Dispatchers. In addition to providing extensive training and on the job experience, the call center is a state of the art facility designed to provide ideal conditions to make the job more comfortable and to reduce stress.

  • Would you be able to handle a high-volume of calls and make decisions quickly and accurately?
  • Could you use questioning and inquiry skills to draw out specific information from callers who are upset, frightened, abusive, or hurt while remaining calm and emotionally detached?
  • Do you have good communication skills and the ability to treat callers courteously and tactfully?
  • Are you willing to work the shifts a structured 24/7 workplace requires?
