Seattle Mentors

“Our youth deserve safe, supportive environments to learn, grow, and reach adulthood, and it will take an all-of-society effort...I never want any child in Seattle to feel like they need to leave here one day to find opportunity.” -Mayor Bruce Harrell

Welcome to Seattle Mentors! We believe in the transformative power of mentorship to inspire growth, cultivate leadership, and foster meaningful connections within our community. Through personalized mentoring relationships, we empower our youth to reach their full potential, navigate challenges, and achieve their goals. Our dedicated team is committed to providing support, guidance, and resources to both mentors and mentees as they embark on their journey of personal and professional development. Looking forward to building a brighter future, one mentor at a time.

Youth are responsible for supplying the appropriate paperwork to document service-learning and community service hours.

The Teen Summer Musical

This 9-week program with a focus on youth of color introduces young people to the world of theater. Through performing arts workshops and collaborative practice, Summer Musical participants develop an increased level of self-discipline, self-confidence and self-motivation.  These character traits are essential to helping participants grow to become emotionally healthy and contributing members of our community. During the program, our professional staff of artists nurtures the expression of dreams and developing talents that often lie dormant within the hearts of adolescents. A true sense of family emerges along with clearly defined roles and responsibilities as young people accomplish their goals. The adapted storylines of traditional plays create a true racial equity lens allowing the youth to better relate to the theatrical experience and the play, and own the “Magic” of how theater works.

Community Learning Centers

Community Learning Centers (CLC) are Out-of-School Time (OST) programs coordinated by Seattle Parks and Recreation staff professionals, based out of Seattle Public School sites and offered during and after school, at lunchtime, and on school breaks (Mid-Winter, Spring) and Summer. These CLCs are currently active in five middle schools and one elementary school, collectively serving approximately 2000 students each year. At each site, CLC Coordinators work closely with school administration and staff to ensure that OST programs incorporate both effective academic instructional models and youth development best practices. OST programs encompass a variety of academic, enrichment, recreational, culturally specific and family engagement events and activities developed in collaboration with school staff, school-based partners, and other community-based organizations catering to the unique dynamics and needs of each schools' community. CLCs are funded through the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) Levy along with grants from Best Start for Kids (King County) and Youth Development Executives of King County (YDEKC). Previously the CLCs were funded through the Seattle Families and Education Levy and the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant, managed by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
