Thank you Seattle! This acquisition is complete.
On December 31, 2008 Seattle Parks purchased the 8,722 square foot property at 2100 Westlake Avenue (currently leased to Enterprise Rent-A-Car) for a new neighborhood park.

In November 2003, King County approved $900,000 to $1 million in matching funds through the Conservation Futures Tax towards this acquisition.

In 2001-2002, the Pro Parks Levy Oversight Committee conducted a public process for the first funding cycle of the Levy's $10 million Opportunity Fund. The Committee recommended designating $3 million for acquisition of land in three urban center villages: University District, Denny Triangle, and Pioneer Square/International District. In August 2002, the Mayor and City Council approved the Committee's recommendation.

The Denny Triangle Urban Center Village is roughly bordered by Denny Way on the north, I-5 on the east, and 6th Avenue on the southwest.

The Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund provides funding for acquisition of land in the Denny Triangle Urban Center Village for a new neighborhood park or open space.


Parks sponsored a public meeting at Cornish College to discuss this proposed acquisition. Approximately 35 citizens attended, including local residents, representatives of the Denny Triangle Neighborhood Association, Vulcan Inc., and Cornish College of the Arts. City staff representing Department of Neighborhoods also attended.
