In April 2005 this new park was named "Nantes Park."

Nantes is Seattle's sister city on the Atlantic coast of France. The park name, endorsed by the Nantes Sister City Association, continues the tradition of naming parks after sister cities, including Tashkent Park, Beer Sheva Park and Kobe Park.

Thank you, Seattle! This Pro Parks Levy acquisition project is complete.

Seattle Parks and Recreation purchased this surplused City Light substation on August 29, 2003.

In February 2005, Parks acquired a .07 acre property adjacent to the north side of the new park, to facilitate future use by upslope residents.

Completion: This surplused substation was acquired by Parks and Recreation on August 29, 2003.

The Pro Parks Levy included the purchase of this property as a Neighborhood Parks Acquisition project. The former City Light Substation site is on Admiral Way SW near Garlough Ave SW.

The Levy also provided funding for development of the site as a new park. See the development project webpage.
