March 2007
Seattle Parks is working with the City's Fleets and Facilities Department to preserve a 20-acre forested site in the greenbelt, just south of South Seattle Community College. The nonprofit group Nature Consortium and community members have been working to preserve and restore this site, commonly referred to as the Soundway property.

- In 2001, Seattle Parks and Recreation purchased a wooded 10-acre site in the West Duwamish Greenbelt that forms a significant link in one of Seattle's largest wildlife habitat corridors. The property was a very high priority in the community for preservation.

The West Duwamish Greenbelt is the largest greenbelt in the city and is home to fox, red-legged frogs, hawks, and bald eagles. The greenbelt encompasses the extended forest along the eastern slopes of West Seattle that is visible from I-5.

The Levy provided local matching funds to obtain King County Conservation Futures Levy funds toward purchases in the West Duwamish Greenbelt.
