Thank you Seattle. This acquisition is complete.
Planning for these parcels is happening with funding through the Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF). Please visit: Greenwood Park NMF Project Information. Seattle Parks and the Department of Neighborhoods held a public meeting on November 3, 2008 to discuss the future development of two vacant parcels to the east side of Greenwood Park on Fremont Ave. N. Please see notes below.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
On December 16, 2003 two properties were acquired to expand Greenwood Park.
Greenwood Park has been developed as a Pro Parks Levy development project.
A grand opening celebration for the new park was held on August 16, 2003. This acquisition project was successfully nominated by Greenwood citizens through the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund process. As Friends of Greenwood Park noted: "Criteria included in the levy focused the Opportunity Fund in areas that were under served by parks, and areas experiencing increased growth, particularly in urban villages and Neighborhood Revitalization areas such as Greenwood." This Opportunity Fund acquisition project acquired additional property to expand the park. Greenwood Park; grand opening celebration August 16, 2003 - Photo by Marc Stifelman
