HOW TO GET STARTED
Lifeguard Pay First Step: $15.17
All temporary employees are paid a percentage of their salary as
premium pay in addition to their regular hourly rate. Premium pay is
in lieu of base level of vacation and all other fringe benefits.
* Must be 16 years old to work for Seattle Parks and Recreation

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
This class will prepare youth and adults 15 years and older to become lifeguards. The course will include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training. This certification is required for those who wish to work as a lifeguard.
Northwest Lifeguard Test Prep Course
The purpose of this course is to review the skills needed to pass the Northwest Lifeguard Certification Test (NWLCT), a water skills test required for employment as a lifeguard with Seattle Parks and Recreation.
