ADA & ACCESSIBILITY
* You are welcome to enjoy this facility. Please wear appropriate swimwear. If you feel you need an individual accommodation, we invite you to speak with the Pool Coordinator or the Swim Beach Manager.
Deep Water Swim Test
To ensure the safety of children and youth using our pools, in order
for swimmers younger than 18 to go into the deep end, Seattle Parks
and Recreation requires a swim test. The test consists of swimming two
widths of the pool. While crawl stroke is preferred, alternate methods
of swimming can be acceptable if the child is swimming with the body
in a prone position and is making good forward progress. For additional
safety, the test may be more stringent if the pool is really crowded.
Final determination is based on the judgment of the lifeguard on duty.
Height and Age Requirements
Children under 48” (4ft in height) OR younger than six years of age must be accompanied in the water by a paying adult. Child must fulfill both height and age requirements to be able to swim without an adult.
Adult to Child Supervision Ratio
An adult must accompany children who do not meet age and height requirements. One adult may supervise only two children at a time. Adults must remain within arm’s reach of supervised children.
Slide Swim Test and Slide Rules
Children under 48” (4ft in height) must pass a swim test in order to use the slide. Lifejackets cannot be worn on the slide. Two people cannot go down the slide together (this includes a parent and child). Children cannot be caught by parents at the bottom of the slide.
