PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Opportunity Fund open house |
Parks acquired the Mt. Baker Ridge
Viewpoint property in 2003 with funding from the first cycle
of the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund. Funding from the second
cycle of the Opportunity Fund will develop the steeply-sloped
site into an urban viewpoint park. The park design features a
unique sculptural viewing platform that extends from the sidewalk
to capture the western panorama of downtown Seattle, Beacon Hill,
Elliott Bay and the Olympic mountains.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
The community nominated this park development project through
the second cycle of the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund. The Pro
Parks Levy Oversight Committee reviewed and toured dozens of nominated
projects, and made its recommendations for project selections
in May 2005. City Council approved the Committee's recommendations
in September 2005.
