Rescheduled: Laurelhurst Salmon Bake and renovated play area celebration
Rain is forecast this Thursday, and the Laurelhurst Salmon Bake and renovated play area celebration is rescheduled to next Thursday, September 12, 2013. You are invited to join your family and friends at the Laurelhurst Community Center from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Special community businesses, Laurelhurst Community Center, Lifelong Recreation and Specialized programs have partnered to make this another fun event for Laurelhurst neighbors to enjoy. Laurelhurst Community Center is located at 4554 NE 41st St.
The Salmon Bake is a community tradition that features delicious food and great entertainment. The menu includes grilled wild salmon, minted watermelon-feta salad, tangy coleslaw, Mediterranean Cous Cous, fresh rolls and organic chocolate brownies. An adult salmon dinner is $15 and child salmon dinner (12 and younger) is $10. Hot dog or garden burger is $5 and steamed clams or mussels are $4.
The Hans Brehmer Quartet will be back this year along with the popular kids’ carnival and a ribbon cutting for the play area. The Parks and Green Spaces Levy and three Department of Neighborhood Matching Fund Awards provided funding for the play area renovation. Seattle Children’s Hospital, the Laurelhurst Community Center Advisory Council and many neighbors contributed additional funding to help create this fun play area and purchase the unique steam scow boat Squak replica play structure. The Squak was a flat-bottom boat that ferried passengers across Lake Washington in the late 1800s. The ribbon cutting will take place at 5:45 p.m.
Parks thanks Salmon Bake co-sponsors Maxwellmeals.com, Metropolitan Market, Era Living, Kwanchai, Le Cordon Bleu, Taylor Shellfish Farms, Sam’s Club, Laurelhurst Advisory Council, the Lifelong Recreation and Special Populations Advisory Councils, and the Associated Recreation Council.
