Mayor McGinn's statement on the US Senate's passing of immigration reform
"I would like to congratulate the United States Senate in passing comprehensive immigration reform. With nearly 30 percent of all Seattle children in immigrant families and more than 100,000 foreign born residents, Seattle is a city of immigrants and our long-term economic health is dependent on a functioning immigration system. The bill passed today sets us on that path. I would like to thank Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell for voting yes on this critical piece of legislation. I call on the House of Representatives to immediately bring up and pass comprehensive immigration reform. Seattle's families and economy are counting on it."
