Mayor Ed Murray meets with Seattle legislative delegation
Mayor Ed Murray and Council President Tim Burgess hosted a meeting today with state legislators who represent districts in Seattle and members of the Seattle City Council. The group discussed ways they can support one another in the upcoming legislative session, starting Monday, January 13. The Mayor and City Council members also asked for input from legislators on the City Council-passed legislative agenda.
"I want us to build an integrated Seattle legislative agenda that's your agenda and our agenda together," said Murray in his welcome to the delegation today. "I pledge as Mayor of this City that we will never point to this Seattle delegation as the reason something is not working."
The Mayor's staff briefed the delegation on some of the City's issues including police reform and the search for a new police chief as well as the Income Inequality Advisory Committee, which is tackling the minimum wage issue at the direction of the Mayor. Some of the topics discussed today included Transportation, Education, the City's fiscal health and Public Safety.
The delegation will meet bimonthly in Olympia to follow up on the agenda outlined in today's meeting.
