Shelter discounting adoption fees during statewide open house event
SEATTLE - Come on down to the Seattle Animal Shelter and join the "pawty" this Saturday, Oct. 5. Seattle’s is one of 15 statewide shelters to open their doors as part of the second annual Statewide Shelter Open House Event sponsored by Pawsitive Alliance to highlight the work Washington animal shelters do on behalf of animals in need.
When: Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, noon-6 p.m.
Where: 2061 15th Ave W, Seattle WA 98119
What: The Seattle Animal Shelter, along with 15 other Washington state animal shelters, will be opening up their doors to host an open house and bring community members in as honored guests-and the animals will cheer as they are adopted out to their forever homes.
The Seattle Animal Shelter is offering up to $35 off adoptions during the open house.
Why: In Washington state approximately 40,000 to 60,000 kitties, puppies, cats and dogs are euthanized each year due to lack of space. Pawsitive Alliance is working hard to bring awareness to the needs of local shelters and their homeless animals. Part of the success of the open house event will be driven by uniting the cause, elevating awareness in your community, and bringing attention to each shelter and each animal in their care.
Participating shelters for the first Statewide Shelter Open House in 2012 saw a 25 percent increase in adoptions during the open house and a surge of traffic at their facility during and following the open house weekend. Pawsitive Alliance hopes to double that success this year.

Pawsitive Alliance's mission is to help end the killing of adoptable dogs and cats in Washington by increasing adoptions, supporting spay and neuter programs, and improving pet retention.
