Seattle Presents closes its summer concert series with hip-hop and surf rock
Free lunchtime concerts: Brothers from Another on August 22, La Luz on August 29
SEATTLE —The Seattle Presents summer concert series at City Hall closes this month with two lively shows: Brothers from Another on Aug. 22and La Luz on Aug. 29. Both concerts are free and all ages and will take place 12 to 1:30 p.m. on City Hall's outdoor plaza, 600 Fourth Ave.
August 22: Brothers from Another
Brothers from Another represent the face of the next generation of Seattle hip-hop, combining the easygoing flavor of the mid '90s with a new-school attitude in their lyrics. Comprised of lyricists Tiglo and Cole, BFA have made their way through the Seattle rap scene from the basement studio of their high school to collaborating with Blue Scholars, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and more.
August 29: La Luz
Rising Seattle stars La Luz turn every show into a beach-side dance party with their lush '60s-inspired surf rock and girl pop. The Stranger's Bree McKenna said it best: "If you see La Luz live, I dare you to take in the absolutely dreamy four-part harmonies while watching their synchronized dance steps... without your knees wobbling like a '50s teen at a Dion concert."
In case of rain, concerts will move inside City Hall lobby and conclude at 1 p.m. Check www.seattle.gov/seattlepresents for the latest updates and summer concert calendar, or call (206) 684-7171. Seattle Presents concerts are presented by the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, Metropolitan Improvement District and Triamp Group.
