Seattle Animal Shelter offers free and fabulous feline adoptions
Promotion runs through Aug. 11
Interested foster care parents encouraged to attend the shelter's Foster Care orientation this coming Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m.
SEATTLE – It's raining cats and...more cats! The Seattle Animal Shelter and its foster families are bulging at the seams with cute cats and adorable kittens waiting for their forever homes. To help every cat and kitten find their special someone, through Aug. 11, all adoption fees have been waived for cats or kittens in the shelter's care. Licensing fees still apply.
The regular price would be more than $150 per animal and this offer is being generously subsidized by the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation. Due to emergent circumstances, this offer supersedes the recently announced two-for-one cat adoptions promotion, "A Pair Affair." The two-for-one offer still applies to the shelter's small critters such as rabbits, guinea pigs and turtles.
"During the month of July, the Seattle Animal Shelter has experienced a 40 percent increase in the number of orphaned felines needing forever homes," says Don Jordan, Seattle Animal Shelter director. "Because we have so many kittens and cats at the shelter and in foster care, we are offering this amazing special to reach out to people who are looking for special cats and kittens to add to their families and to promote the human-animal bond. We are hoping potential adopters will consider adopting two or three kittens to ensure that your new kitties have playmates and companionship for the rest of their lives."
The free adoption package includes:
- Initial vaccinations
- Feline Leukemia testing
- Certificate for free health exam at local veterinarians
- Spay or neuter surgery
For Seattle residents, a $27 two-year pet license must be purchased with each adoption.
Another way to help is to become a cat or kitten foster parent. The Seattle Animal Shelter is always looking for foster parents to help rehabilitate sick or underage shelter animals. Persons interested in becoming a foster cat parent are encouraged to attend the shelter's Foster Care orientation program this coming Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. The orientation will be held in the shelter's conference room, and the shelter requests an RSVP be emailed by 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation is sponsoring all fee-waived adoptions throughout the summer. The SAS Foundation works to support the programs and mission of the Seattle Animal Shelter.
The Seattle Animal Shelter is open Wednesday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 2061 - 15th Ave. W. The phone number is (206) 386-7387. Animals available for adoption can be viewed online at http://www.seattleanimalshelter.org.
