Celebrate Neighbor Appreciation Day on February 9!
Activities happening at fire stations, community centers, parks and pools
Celebrate Seattle’s 19th annual Neighbor Appreciation Day, a special day to reach out to neighbors and express thanks to all who make each neighborhood a great place. Community organizations and residents across Seattle are hosting work parties, special events, guided walks, and open houses from February 9 (through Feb. 14) to celebrate this day.
To celebrate, participate in one of the public events listed below or simply invite your neighbor for coffee. More details about the events can be found at www.seattle.gov/neighborhoods/neighborday/events.htm. All events are FREE unless noted.

Neighbor Appreciation Day Fire Station Open Houses

Neighbor Appreciation Day Waterfront Cleanup
Join Seattle Councilmember Sally Bagshaw and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods staff for a cleanup day along the Seattle downtown waterfront. Coffee and morning treats provided by Alaskan Sourdough Bakery. Dress warm and wear work gloves. Ivar's Fish Bar will provide lunch for volunteers!

Stairway Walks Day
Celebrate Neighbor Appreciation Day by exploring your community's local stairways with your neighbors! Join Feet First on guided urban explorations of Seattle's beautiful stairways to highlight the region’s elevation changes and discuss the individual characteristics and historical context of our public stairways. Passport to the Cascade Neighborhood
Pick up your “passport” and enjoying walking the streets of the neighborhood introducing yourself along the way! Many local businesses are “foreign countries!” It is your job to access each “country” and have your passport stamped! Prizes will be awarded to the person with the most stamps! Free hot dogs and trivia at the Y @ Cascade People’s Center!

Neighbor Appreciation Day Free Swim at Southwest Pool
Southwest Pool staff would like to show appreciation for the Southwest community. A free public swim is scheduled from 1-2 pm. Refreshments served in the lobby from 12-2 pm. Celebrate with us!

Neighbor Appreciation Day in Wallingford
Join the Wallingford Chamber, Wallingford Community Senior Center, Family Works, Wallingford Center, and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods in activities at Wallingford Center and other businesses. Community representatives will be staffing a table where residents can complete Neighbor Appreciation Cards -- write a thank-you note to your neighbors, tell a story about something great a neighbor has done for you or just write the name of a neighbor you really appreciate!

Open House with cookies and tea. Experience our historic building built in 1890. The film "Globalized Soul: Stories from the Tipping Point to a New World" will be shown at noon. Friendship dialogue follows.

Hands-on Skills Fair (two locations)
In partnership with Ravenna Eckstein and Meadowbrook Community Centers, Sustainable NE is organizing its third annual community skills fair. Folks from our neighborhoods will share skills such as food preservation, gluten-free and regular baking, basic plumbing and electrical, tool repair, simple bike maintenance, and making lotions, just to name a few.

Japanese Tea Ceremony and Shishimai Lion Dance
The head priest will conduct an authentic Japanese tea ceremony as well as a shishimai lion dance for Lunar New Year. Refreshments will be provided.

Mystery Book Exchange in Phinney Ridge
Celebrate with your neighbors by trading your gently used mystery books for something new to read. Receive one ticket for each paperback and two per hardback and use the tickets to “purchase” other books. If you don't have books to exchange, you can buy paperbacks for $1.00 and hardbacks for $2.00.

Celebrate Neighbor Appreciation in the Greenwood area! Folks from the GSC will come together for warm drinks and treats as well as live music. We will have a festive celebration in our lobby where you can make a card to acknowledge a neighbor whom you would like to honor and share your appreciation. All are welcome!
