| Critical Areas |
 |
A Critical Areas Map is used by
planners when performing site suitability analysis, or to identify potential building restrictions
in environmentally sensitive areas. It is also used by emergency staff to define areas of interest
for earthquake mitigation and response.
Themes
Critical areas include liquefaction zones, wildlife corridors, steep slopes over 40%, potential
slides areas, known slide areas, wetlands, and riparian corridors. The boundaries are generalized
from several data sources and should be verified in the field if accuracy is important. |
