The permit process differs for each permit type, and may also vary depending on how complex your project is. These steps are a general guideline to follow to apply for a permit. you can submit most permit applications electronically through your Seattle DCI Project Portal.
Submit Preliminary Application Materials
Screen Application Materials
Upload your application materials through your Seattle DCI Project Portal or bring them to the Applicant Services Center. We will review your material to make sure you have everything you need for a successful permit application intake. If you are a consistently prepared applicant (CPA) with a current rating of 80 percent or higher, this step is not required.
Schedule an Intake Appointment
You can schedule an electronic intake appointment once your screening is approved and you have completed all required preliminary application steps.
Submit Your Permit Application
Submit electronic permit application materials through your Seattle DCI Project Portal before 7:00 a.m. for your electronic intake appointment. You will need to pay all fees due within two days of this time.
Make Corrections & Resubmit Your Plans
After your permit application, we review your plans. Once all of our reviews are done, you will receive an email telling you that corrected and/or additional documents can be uploaded into your portal. Your project may require multiple correction rounds before our reviews are complete
Pay any outstanding fees and receive approved plans and permit.
